If you have an asphalt driveway in your LocalCity home, it will very likely develop cracks. Tim Carter from AskTheBuilder.com demonstrates how to fix a cracked blacktop surface. He fills the crack with an asphalt compound using a caulking gun.

Points worth noting:

- Make sure the asphalt is not wet
- Sweep out the crack to remove loose dirt and stones
- This technique is for “v” shaped cracks
- The caulking material works best when it is reasonably warm
- Do not overfill the crack otherwise you will have a mess

Notice that he recommends using bits of asphalt debris from the blacktop to add solid matter to the crack and give the compound more stength.

Another trick he mentions is to use some asphalt debris along the side of the driveway and sprinkle it over the compound so it takes on the colour of the asphalt.
