There is a trick to cutting lawns properly. Done right, cutting the grass will reduce the need to use more pesticides in your My City yard. Growing healthier grass makes it harder for weeds to flourish. Cutting grass too rarely or too short will cause the grass to turn brown and permit lawn diseases to spread throughout the already stressed grass.
Preserving a good height is the key. Most varieties of grass need to be cut when the blades reach four inches high. Permitting a lawn to grow higher than this often makes grass to go into shock when it’s finally cut. Using mulching blades return the grass clippings to the soil where they act as a natural fertilizer.
Except for a few short southern grasses, the mower deck should be set to three inches. Many home owners cut the grass too low, thinking that they will not have to mow again so soon. But trimming it too short can also shock the grass. Taller grass remains greener. It shades the soil and prevents weeds from sprouting.
Grass will grow at irregular rates throughout the year. Differences in the amount of rain, sunshine, and warmth all influence the rate of growth. Your mowing cycle ought to adapt to the growth of the grass and not be scheduled strictly by the calendar. When the grass grows rapidly in the spring, it might need to be cut every few days. During a dry season, it may need cutting only every other week.
Mowing the My City grass properly and regularly will save work in the long run.
